"Why did you let her go so easily?" Zhan Nanxi tidied up his messy clothes. "What should I do when she comes back to pester me again?"
Yu Leelee did not say anything as she turned around and went downstairs.
"Hey, little ancestor, don't go..." Zhan Nanxi hurriedly followed behind her. "Little ancestor, what's your cell number?"
"I don't know."
"Then I'll use your phone to make a call to myself." Zhan Nanxi took Yu Leelee's phone. He quickly called himself and saved the number.
"Little ancestor, in the future when I'm in trouble, you have to save me!"
"I'll keep my word."
"I'm putting my life in your hands!"
Zhan Nanxi suddenly became a chatterbox.
"Do you know what to say later if your elder brother asks?" Yu Leelee stopped in her tracks.
"What should I say?" Zhan Nanxi was dumbfounded.
"I'll teach you what to say. Just say..."
"What are you doing?"
Not far away, a familiar cold male voice sounded.
At the moment, Zhan Beiting's luxurious Bugatti Veyron was parked not far away from them.
Zhan Beiting leaned against the car with his body slightly tilted. His icy gaze fell on them.
"We didn't do anything." Yu Leelee smiled engagingly until her eyes became two slits. She signaled Zhan Nanxi to hurry over.
They got into Zhan Beiting's car.
"Tell me what's going on here."
In the car, Zhan Beiting's darkening mood was looming in the air like a hurricane. The tension made the two of them a little breathless.
Zhan Nanxi and Yu Leelee looked at each other.
Yu Leelee gave Zhan Nanxi's phone to him. "Here's what happened. Zhan Nanxi didn't bring any money. He wanted to ask you to send it over. But I think you must have a lot of work to do every day, so I offered to help."
She bit her lips lightly and looked innocently at the man in front of her. "So that's it!"
Zhan Beiting looked at her sharply. His hostile gaze was penetrating like a sharp scalpel checking out her expression. It was as if he could peel people apart layer by layer. Then he turned to his younger brother. "Tell me the truth."
How much money could this little thing have?
Did they expect him to believe such a poor lie?
"The truth is..." Zhan Nanxi immediately spoke up. "Elder Brother, do you remember when she first came to our house? She looked at me and said I was going to be in trouble."
He said eagerly, "Sure enough, I encountered a supernatural incident today. I really met a female ghost."
"But I didn't know her cell phone number. So I called you and asked you to beg little ancestor to save me."
"That's what really happened."
Zhan Beiting was speechless.
His version sounded far more ridiculous than what the little girl had said.
"Little ancestor?" Zhan Beiting frowned, his voice full of displeasure.
Lei Ming, who was in the driver's seat, also found it unbelievable. Just earlier today, they were at each other's throats and bickered continually.
How come they were so close now?
"That's right. From now on, Leelee is my little ancestor!" The young man hugged Yu Leelee's arm companionably.
Zhan Beiting's gaze fell on the hand that hugged the girl. For some reason, he felt as if cotton was blocking his heart.
This feeling made him very uncomfortable.
"Come here." He beckoned to her.
"Oh." Yu Leelee obediently sat beside him.
"I don't care what happened. Just don't create trouble for me in the future." He rubbed the girl's soft silky hair and the touch of it dissipated some of the strange feelings in his heart. "A disobedient child will be punished."
Yu Leelee shivered when she heard the last few words.
