Chasing After My Wife

DRUG RAID II

DRUG RAID II

4The mission went smoothly after getting some help from their Lieutenant Colonel.      3

However, it wasn't the same with Hawk and Savannah's side.

They didn't expect that along with the new batch of goods (drugs, women and children), there will be additional security measures.

"This is a live wired fence. We needed to get past this before getting into the imported cargoes." Savannah stated. She put down her bag and pulled out an anti-shock cutter.

She cut a huge hole for them to get inside the perimeters. "I'll sneak into the monitoring room in that small house. Wait for my signal here."

"Do your best captain, we got your back." It was one of the snipers who sneaked to high places with full view. When they got inside, five snipers looked for a place that the could hide.

Savannah trusted her men just how much she trusted Hawk to watch her back. She stealthily walked, crawled, jogged and sneaked her way to the monitoring house.

There were four guards roaming around the small house so it wasn't a tough fight. However, they got monitors in them that would indicate their death.

"Heck! They knew we're here. Get ready to launch an attack." Savannah stated and charged towards the monitoring room. There were two men awaiting her but she dealt with them immediately.

"Snipers, take those that were monitoring from the top of the cargoes." Savannah instructed. One by one, the people on top stopped breathing.

Hawk led the remaining soldiers and charge on the battlefield.

'Bang!' one of the soldiers got shot on his leg. A man with an evil smile appeared right before them. Registration reflected on his eyes upon seeing the person he shot. "Luiz?" Disbelief were as clear as day on his face. Still, he reloaded his gun and shot again but he didn't hit his target. He looked at his chest and found a dark liquid seeping through his clothes.

"Damn it!" he cursed and clutched his chest. "I can't die yet! No!" he pulled the trigger again but no bullet came out. Empty! Just like his gun, his eyes stared at them with regret and emptiness.

"How did he become like this?" the soldier who got shot asked to no one in particular. He was still surprise. His brain wasn't processing everything clearly.

"You knew him, L?" They asked.

With his bleeding legs, the soldier walked towards the dead man. He opened his jacket and found the necklace he once gave him. "Why?" Tears started coming out of his eyes. "Why did you become like this? Why?"

They never expected that a reunion could happen in such a way. The other soldiers looked down in sympathy before leaving to continue their mission.

The other soldiers left to rescue the women and children inside the cargo, others were securing the large amount of drugs. Leaving him with the dead body and snipers guarding his lonely back from afar.

He could still remember the promise they made together when they were young. The sun was shining brightly, faces were red from the sunburn as they played on the beach from morning 'til noon.

"Haru! Let's become stronger together. Let's protect our grandpa." Luiz, stated with a smile.

"Okay. I will become strong to protect the family." Haru answered. The next day, Luiz gave him a necklace with a thin silver plate engraved with their names.

They both lost their parents and were raised by their grandfathers. However, Haru's grandfather died when he was in high school. After that, he left and they never met again.

He's got so many questions. He's got so many things to tell him. He had imagined the way they would meet again but, this kind of meeting wasn't what he imagined at all.

L or Luiz, took the necklace and kept it. When the other soldiers came back to clean up the mess, he already calmed down.

Hawk came to his side and gave his shoulder a gentle pat. It wasn't a big thing but it was a great comfort for him.

"Thanks Captain. I'm fine." He murmured and smiled at him. Hawk just nodded and left him alone to give him space.

Even if he said he was fine, Hawk knew that it wasn't something you can overcome after few minutes. He knew how painful it is to lost someone dear to you.

The women and children were sent to a hospital for medical treatment and consultations. The dead were sent to mortuary for identification. Those that they captured alive were sent to jail.

L was still holding on to the necklace. He really wanted to stop crying but every time he remembered his smiling face from years ago and the empty eyes from earlier, his tears won't just stop falling.

"Did I choose the right path?" He murmured while looking at his hands. Earlier, he almost killed him but he was statued in his place when he saw his face. "Is this really right?"

"We make our own choices. You may have the same goal but there are different ways to achieve a goal. Don't blame yourself L. It was his choice not your choice for him." Savannah responded from behind him. He clenched his face and tears continued dropping on the ground.

Savannah supported him as he walk towards the waiting medical personnel to treat his leg. She left him with the doctor and went back to the military truck.

Hawk approached her after making sure that everything's fine. "I heard Lieutenant Colonel Avery took Brown with her."

"So she finally gained agreement. She's been delaying her mission because of him." Savannah responded with faint laughter.

"Valkyrie is angry."

"He didn't know? Brown didn't tell him?"

"Looks like it."

Savannah felt an impending headache. She knew it would be difficult to talk to Valkyrie after this.

Indeed, Valkyrie was seething with anger. "You knew it from the beginning, right?" He was asking Major General Calhoun.

"I didn't know Brown wouldn't tell you. We've always been under impression that there's no secret between you."

"Damn it!" He cursed, punching the table which they used to lay the map earlier. A hole appeared on the table but the general didn't mind at all.

"We were informed about this over a month ago." Major General Calhoun stated.

"Why didn't he tell me?! Why?"
