My Crazy Housemate

Stubborn Jeremy

Stubborn Jeremy

4"Why does it always rain whenever I am stuck with this boy?" Chloe asked herself quietly as Jeremy drove them both to the location she was to meet David.

The bastard had actually asked her to come to his place but she had refused and insisted on meeting with him in an open place. Since it began to rain, she asked him to wait outside the building where he lived so they would talk quickly before she returned home.

She turned to look at Jeremy who was very quiet.

'This is weird. He usually talks a lot so why is he quiet?' She asked herself as she looked at him.

'Did I do something?' She wondered and began to think back to all that had happened that day. She couldn't remember ever saying anything to make him angry at her so why wasn't he talking to her?

She suddenly frowned and looked at him in anger.  'What's my business if he isn't talking to me? It's better this way. I can enjoy some quietness.' She sighed and turned to look out the window.

"What's wrong with you?" She suddenly turned to ask him, surprising the both of them especially her who quickly snapped her lips shut. 'What am I thinking?'

"Nothing. I'm good." He said blankly which made her conclude that something was definitely wrong with him.

"Did something happen between you and Kelvin earlier? Why did he call you out?" She asked curiously.

"I thought you weren't watching." He said glancing at her briefly. He had looked towards her direction in class that afternoon and it looked like she hadn't been paying attention.

Chloe was a bit flustered. She had actually seen Kelvin approach Jeremy while he was talking to Mia and had expected Jeremy to sit back but to her surprise, he had actually followed.

"Well, I am not blind, neither am I deaf so I obviously saw him approach you." She said defensively. "Why did he call you out?"

"We are here." Jeremy said while looking at the front of the building. He could see David  standing there already. Even if the rain was making the windshield slightly blurry, he was never going to forget David's face and structure.

Jeremy looked at Chloe, hoping to see some kind of reaction from her as she looked at her ex, but her face was blank making him excited inside. Maybe he had been overthinking and she really didn't have any intention of dating him again.

"Wait here. I'll go—"

"Why?" He asked, cutting her off immediately.

"I have to speak with him... privately." She emphasized.

"I can't do that. Didn't you employ me so I would protect you? Didn't you say you wanted me to act like your boyfriend in front of him?" He asked.

"It's not like he is going to hurt me. Stay here. If I give you a signal, you can come over. I just need to know what he wants." She said before opening the door.

She stepped down and quickly joined David at the front which had enough shade to cover them from the drizzling rain.

David quickly cleaned off a tear with his hand when he saw she really came.

"Oh God Chloe. I am so happy to see you!" He said before hugging her before she could react.

Jeremy who was watching, seemed even more shocked than Chloe who quickly pushed him away.

"What's the meaning of this?" She asked angrily making him step back then he looked at the car and saw Jeremy watching him.

"You brought him here?" He asked rhetorically with sadness in his voice.

"I didn't bring him. We were going on a date and he agreed for us to stop by. So make it quick." She said impatiently and cringed at how weird it sounded.

"He is even driving your car." David said with a sad pout, his eyes never leaving Jeremy who was staring right back at him.

"You never let me drive your car."

"Just get on with it!" Chloe snapped making him turn to look at her.

"I want you back Chloe. I will treat you well, I promise. I haven't been able to live well these past weeks thinking you are no longer beside me. I can't move on. Maybe you can, but I can't. Please Chloe, I wouldn't mind that you had an affair with him. Let's get back together."

He tried to take her hand but she stepped back and shook her head.

"I already told you. Nothing is ever going to happen between us anymore. Stop stalking me and go get a job so you can take care of your family. I am begging you David. Please.. you have a lot of people depending on you. Do something and take care of them instead of trying to leech off me—"

"That's not it." David shook his head vigorously.

"Then it's what? What is it David? You were the first guy I ever opened my heart to but you played me. Do you know... how much I... was hurt?" She stopped talking abruptly when she noticed she was revealing herself to him and what's more, she turned briefly to see Jeremy was already out of the car and was standing under the rain as he watched them both.

"What are you doing outside? You'll catch a cold, go inside." She told Jeremy quietly but he shook his head like a rebellious child.

"I said go in. Why are you standing under the rain?" She asked again. His clothes was getting wet and his hair was already looking wet.

She thought David was going to probably suspect they weren't an item with the way she was scolding Jeremy, but all David could see was how doting she was towards him.

He shook his head again making her want to just go hit him or knock some senses back into his head.

"I have to leave now." She turned to tell David with a sigh. Jeremy was too stubborn and she knew he wasn't going to go in until she returned.

"You haven't let him touch you right?" David asked in a choked voice.

"We dated for four years and you didn't let me go further other than a kiss, you haven't by chance done it with—"

"Stop it!" She said in both anger and embarrassment since she could guess Jeremy could hear them if he tried to eavesdrop.
