Daiyu opened the door to Wang Jing's study quietly. She took a peek inside and saw her grandfather busy sifting through files on his desk. She trotted over and climbed onto his lap.

"Grandpaw…"

"Xiao Yu." Wang Jing was surprised.

He gently patted her head and she buried her face onto his chest.

"Grandpaw…"

"Mmm? What's wrong?"

She remained silent but rubbed her face against his chest. He chuckled and gently rubbed her back.

"Grandpaw… do you love Daiyu?"

"Of course I do."

"But grandpaw doesn't play with Daiyu…" She rested her head on his chest and pouted.

"… I'm sorry, Xiao Yu. Grandpa is busy making money for you."

Daiyu nodded.

"Daiyu knows. But grandpaw is already very rich. But Daiyu is still lonely…"

Wang Jing felt his heart clench.

"Daiyu is lonely?"

Daiyu nodded.

Wang Jing looked at her with a conflicted face. He had always left the younger ones to entertain her. He thought that with Shuren, Nana, and Liu Jin spoiling her, she would surely be happy. While he made sure not to miss out on her big events, he didn't know that she had been feeling lonely all along.

"I'm sorry, Xiao Yu. Grandpa was wrong." He laid his papers down and raised her head with his hand. He then gently kissed her forehead and smiled.

"Why don't we go play right now?"

"R-really?!" Daiyu's eyes filled with excitement. Wang Jing chuckled and nodded.

"O-owkay grandpaw! Let's go! Daiyu wants to play with grandpaw right now!"

"Okay, okay. Calm down now. Don't run." He chuckled as Daiyu excitedly dragged him out of the room.

---

The first thing Daiyu did was to play dress up with Wang Jing. She dressed him up with colorful blankets as he sat on the sofa drinking tea. She also worked hard to look for beautiful flowers from the garden to decorate his hair with. Then, she dressed herself up the same way she did with him.

"Grandpaw look! We're matching!"

Wang Jing chuckled.

Butler Tang who had been watching them from afar could not help but smile. He had always known the old man to be very stern. Even Fengge wasn't lucky enough to be spoiled like this by Wang Jing.

"Grandpaw." Daiyu handed him a new cup of tea. She had added five cubes of sugar into it to show how much she loved him.

"Thank you, Xiao Yu." He smiled.

Daiyu nodded and proceeded to make a new cup for herself. Right now, they were having a tea party. Realizing they had no snacks, Daiyu turned to face her grandfather.

"Grandpaw, Daiyu wants pancakes!"

"Mmm? Then let's ask the chef to make some for you."

Daiyu shook her head.

"Grandpaw! Make pancakes for Daiyu, pwease?"

"… You want me to make them?"

She nodded.

He looked at her and saw the anticipation in her eyes.

"Alright." He nodded.

---

Actually, Wang Jing didn't know how to make pancakes. But seeing the child excitedly look forward to his cooking, he just didn't have the heart to say no. So right now, they were in the kitchen together, wearing matching aprons. Wang Jing stood behind the counter while Daiyu stood on top of a chair beside him, cheering him on.

He stared at the instruction sheet that the chef had made for him and studied each step carefully. First, he sifted the flour and Daiyu watched excitedly. She then helped him beat the eggs, add the milk, and watched as he poured the batter onto the pan.

"Grandpaw! A bear! Daiyu wants a bear!"

He nodded. He then tried his best to make the pancake look like a bear but it turned out hideous instead.

"…"

"Hehe." Daiyu giggled. "Grandpaw's bear looks so cute!"

After plating the pancakes, the grandfather and daughter pair sat around the table, ready to eat.

Upon his first bite, Wang Jing immediately cringed. It was too salty.

Daiyu giggled. He sighed.

"Xiao Yu, let's throw these out and have the chef make you a new one instead."

"N-no!"

Afraid that her grandfather would throw away her precious pancake, Daiyu quickly shoveled the entire piece into her mouth. She then faced her grandfather with cheeks bursting like a little hamster and smiled.

Wang Jing chuckled.

"What are you doing?"

Daiyu quickly chewed and swallowed her food before speaking.

"Grandpaw's pancakes are the best!" She beamed, her cheeks blushing. She then looked down on her empty plate and smiled.

"Grandpaw is the best."

---

That night, Daiyu crawled into Wang Jing's bed, pestering him to read her a story. He chuckled and indulged her, reading as much as five stories, but Daiyu just wouldn't sleep.

"Xiao Yu, it's late now. You should go to sleep."

Daiyu shook her head.

"No!"

"Why not?" He frowned.

She looked down, a pout forming on her lips. She then buried her face onto his chest before hugging him tightly.

"Daiyu… Daiyu doesn't want today to end. Grandpaw will be busy again tomorrow… Daiyu doesn't want tomorrow to come. Daiyu doesn't want to be lonely anymore…"

Wang Jing looked at her sadly before kissing her forehead.

"Xiao Yu, from now on, grandpa promises to spend more time with you."

"R-really?"

"Mmm. Grandpa will make sure you won't feel lonely anymore."

"When tomorrow comes, grandpaw will still play with Daiyu?"

"Mmm."

"Grandpaw will have tea parties again with Daiyu?"

"Mmm."

"R-really?!"

He chuckled.

"Can – can we invite Uncle Tang too?"

The old man laughed, imagining Tang Yun in a dress made out of blankets while drinking sweet tea.

"Of course."

"… P-pwomise?" She raised her chubby little pinky and he hooked his finger onto hers.

"Promise."

"Hehe." She giggled and rubbed her face onto his chest. She then took his hand and laid her cheek on it.

"Grandpaw, don't grow old too soon. Daiyu wants to spend many many many many more days with you."

He smiled.

"Xiao Yu too. Don't grow up too fast."

She giggled before yawning. Wang Jing then tucked her in and slowly patted her to sleep.

---

After that day, as promised, Wang Jing spent more time with Daiyu. Sometimes, he would bring her to his office, showing her his workplace. Daiyu would run around the building excitedly, greeting his subordinates.

"H-hello! Pwease take care of grandpaw for me." She'd greet random employees politely.

They'd smile and greet her back, indulging the cute child who livened up the workplace.

After greeting people to her heart's content, she'd return to her grandfather's office to draw. Wang Jing had prepared a small table for her right next to his desk. While he worked on his papers, Daiyu sat beside him, pretending to be busy as well.

Just like that, two weeks of her winter break passed by before the old man received a call from the Lius.

"Xiao Yu, come here."

Daiyu turned to face her grandfather and trotted over to his side, crawling onto his lap.

"Xiao Yu, we'll be visiting the Lius today."

"Jin-gege's family?"

"Mmm. Nana is pregnant."

Daiyu tilted her head to one side.

"It means, a baby is growing inside Nana's tummy."

Daiyu covered her mouth with her little hands.

"A-a baby!"

"Mmm. Do you want to go see?"

Daiyu nodded vigorously. He chuckled.

"Alright. Then pack up your things now so we can go see them, okay?"

Daiyu nodded and went to clean up her things obediently.

---

Soon, the black custom Caldwell drove up the large wooden gates of the Liu Estate. Butler Shao came to greet them and Daiyu excitedly hugged him. She had become well acquainted with Butler Shao after visiting her Jin-gege often. The man then led them inside where the family was waiting for them.

Upon entering the room, Daiyu saw Nana with a swollen belly.

"Mommy!" She ran towards her excitedly but Shuren gently caught her in his arms before she could hug Nana.

"Daddy!" She kissed his cheek and he nodded.

"Xiao Yu, you can't run around Nana while she's pregnant, okay? You might hurt the baby."

"H-hurt?" She looked at him, worry filling her eyes.

He nodded.

"It's okay, Xiao Yu. As long as you don't bump into my belly, it'll be okay." Nana gently smiled at her.

Daiyu wriggled out of Shuren's arms and slowly approached Nana.

"Mommy, where is baby?"

She tilted her head to one side.

"Right here." Nana took her small hand and gently placed in on top of her belly.

"Inside?"

"Mmm."

She frowned.

"Why is baby hiding?"

Shuren chuckled.

"It's not hiding, Xiao Yu. It's still growing inside Nana." He tried to explain.

"… But Daiyu is growing too?" She wondered why the baby didn't want to grow outside.

Nana laughed.

"You were inside your mommy's tummy too."

"R-really?!"

"Mmm. After nine months, the baby will come out. And then the baby will grow up outside just like Xiao Yu."

Daiyu paused, taking in their words.

She then approached Nana and gently kissed her tummy.

"Grow up soon baby. Daiyu will play with you lots."

Nana smiled at her warmly as she gently stroked her hair.

"Daiyu will become a good big sister!"
