Mark of the destiny

Dark. Dangerous

Dark. Dangerous

0She shook her head, "I didn't. When he failed to give me moral support, what else I could have expected from him. That time, mom and I broke our FD's, and dad supported us by selling his old paintings at a throwaway price."     0

"So why didn't you shift him after that?"

"Go check your hospital records. I was about to shift him the other day after finishing up with my VIVA. I had even made the deposit and had spoken with the pediatrician of your hospital. But... overnight his lung infection worsened, and develop fluid around it, congesting it, which put strain on his heart and they pushed him to OT—"

"Wait!" He interrupted, "Did you see the fluids personally? Through ultrasound?"

"Not Personally, I was in a different city at that time. But I have checked the scans attached to the reports. It was there. I saw it."

Another lie!

Wang Shi's eyes were dangerously low. Other than infection and slight inflammation, he didn't saw any fluid around the baby's lungs. The scans they showed her were fake. Belonged to someone else. They tricked her.

He had a feeling the reports in his hands were true.

"Was it Ling Gilbert who took him to the surgery?"

"No way!" she side-kicked, and the glass kept near her foot shattered. Wang Shi pulled her up. "I would have never allowed him to treat my baby. Thankfully, he, his daughter, and Gong Li stayed away. It was another doctor at Ace. Very experienced. But I spoke to none of them and left from there. That place still suffocates me."

Without looking, enveloped in sudden stillness, her mid kept thinking about Gong Li's words. He was not even there when all this happened.

Or….. was he there!?

Was her baby subject to another medical mistake while being operated and the hospital changed the facts?

Damn! Why didn't she check everything at that time? At least, Gong Li wouldn't have been able to instigate her like this!

But was she in a condition to think about anything else!!??

With this, Wang Shi got many answers.

She didn't talk a word about donation, which only means she's unaware of it. The only thing that's still a mystery was why the baby was brain dead? What exactly they did?

Is it to steal his heart?

Or was he brain dead because of something else, and later someone sold the heart as the news spread.

Don't know why, but the first option had greater chances.

*Beep beep beep beep*

Suyin looked up and saw him typing something on her mobile. "Wang Shi—"

"Let's talk to Gong Li," he vibrated with rage. Veins popped out on his forehead, "I will give them a punishment that even death will tremble. How dare they…. How dare they do this to you? If they had issues- they should have come to you, why punish a two-month-old baby?! I'd destroy the hospital and every f*cking monster who hurt you."

Rage builds like deep water currents. His only fault was he wanted to save his dying son. That's it! The money offered was to bring/motivate/lure/ or call it whatever- to donate a heart and save a life. Only God knows, it was never his intention to kill an innocent baby and steal his heart. By doing that he would be giving a cursed life to his son and would rather let him die.

YET, HIS LIFE WAS A GOD DAMN MESS.

The first woman of his life he took a fancy for- was tied to him with the thread as delicate as this. Just a pull and it will break forever.

A shiver moved through Suyin. He really had the power to turn his words into reality, and she believed it. The way his eyes squinted reminded her of a pit viper's slit-like pupils. Dark. Dangerous.

She touched his cheek, "We are not sure yet. But I've decided to investigate everything so that no one would come after me taking my baby's name."

He kissed her palm and pressed it against his face.

No words come out of his mouth, but he knew what he would do...

******

At a restaurant near the People's Hospital.

Wang Shi and Suyin were seated at the different tables, waiting for Gong Li. Meeting him at the hospital was not a good idea, and nor Wang Shi was comfortable to let her go to Ace or any place decided by Gong Li.

To not let Gong Li have any doubt, Wang Shi was at the table behind Suyin's, with their back facing each other. As an extra precaution, he even wore a mask.

"Suyin, want to drink something?"

"No. I'm fine." She glanced restlessly at her watch. 4:09 p.m. it was. The set time for the meeting was five, but she insisted to come early and he joined her without a word.

"Wang Shi, I'll handle this alone. Go see your patients, don't you have appointments?" she talked to him through wireless.

"I'm with my most important appointment. Others can wait." He picked the menu tablet and digitally ordered a strong coffee for self and a glass of juice for her.

At a quarter to five, Suyin saw someone enter the restaurant and sucked in sharp breath. "What is she doing here?"

Wang Shi's gaze moved to the entrance and saw Fei Hong stepping in with a man who had a mask on as well. He recognized him as the same man who had come to the hospital the other day.

How did she manage to come here? Isn't Junjie with her all the time?

"It's okay, ignore them. They must be here to eat something. Let's concentrate on meeting Gong Li. Okay?"

When she didn't reply, Wang Shi turned and saw her gaze glued to the masked man. Coincidentally Zeng also looked at her. Even with the mask on, she could see him giving a smile at her. He always does. But it never brings a smile on her face, too.

"Ge,"

Wang Shi frowned, "What?"

"He's my elder brother, Zhao Zeng."
